Remote Desktop Access

 

Raintree systems provides support through a high speed remote connection. Raintree requires a direct connection using the Raintree client for training and technical support.

This direct connection provides access to Raintree only. Remote desktop access may also be required for specific training or technical support issues. Various connection options are described below.

 

Raintree Direct Connect

Allows a technical support person to assist with support specific to the Raintree software.

Benefits:

  • Built into Raintree
  • Allows a technician to assist without being on your computer
  • Monitor feature for training and technical support assistance

Requirements:

  • Requires port 10021 to be open on your router and forward to the computer where Raintree is installed

Restrictions:

  • Does not allow technician access to your computer if the issue is specific to the computer
 

Remote Desktop

Built into the Windows operating system, it allows a technical support person to connect to your desktop for assistance.

Benefits:

  • Allows your desktop to be accessed for technical support assistance
  • It is free to use

Requirements:

  • Windows XP or higher (it will work with Windows 2000 Professional but needs to be installed
  • Port 3389 opened on router and forward to the computer that needs to be accessed
  • Windows user name and password for the computer that needs to be accessed
  • Remote desktop needs to be configured for access on the computer prior to using it

Restrictions:

  • You will not be able to see the support person moving on the screen unless that feature is turned on by your IT person
 

Logmein

Software that is downloaded from www.logmein.com.

Benefits:

  • Allows your desktop to be accessed for technical support assistance with little configuration
  • It does not require any router configuration
  • Able to see the screen movements of the technical support person

Requirements:

  • Download and install logmein ‘free’ from www.logmein.com
  • Need to provide windows user name and password to support technician for access

Restrictions:

  • Person installing the software will need to be a local administrator to their computer
 

PcAnywhere

Allows your desktop to be accessed for technical support assistance.

Benefits:

  • Able to see the screen movements of the technical support person

Requirements:

  • Requires ports 5631 and 5632 to be opened on router to the computer that needs assistance

Restrictions:

  • Software needs to be purchased and installed
